May 12 is World ME Day!

This date coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910), the British nurse considered to be the founder of modern nursing. According to the CDC, she became chronically ill from a bacterial infection and was often bedridden later in life. ME/CFS was not defined in her lifetime, but many medical historians believe she developed an ME/CFS-like illness.

This World ME Day, Solve will be joining the call upon individuals, organizations, and countries to become a #GlobalVoiceForME. As a collective, we hold the most power. By uniting our voices, we can influence the trajectory of ME research, treatment, and support.

Below are some ways you can get involved, raise awareness, and make a difference on World ME Day.

  • Join: Join our dynamic, patient-centered real-world data platform Solve Together. It integrates multiple data sources and is designed to speed up the discovery of treatments and cures while connecting researchers with individuals interested in participating in clinical research studies.
  • Advocate: This significant day coincides with the 55th anniversary since the World Health Organization (WHO) officially acknowledged ME in their International Classification of Diseases, underscoring the critical need to address this global health crisis.

You can join the World ME Alliance campaign calling on those responsible for working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to become a #GlobalVoiceForME. Use their toolkit to send an email to your country’s WHO National Counterpart. In the U.S., you’ll contact Mary Lou Valdez, Deputy Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

  • Donate: When you make gift to Solve, you help us turn research into reality. Plus, all gifts made today through June 30 will be doubled with our $50,000 matching challenge! Your donation will help us realize our vision of a world free of ME/CFS.

  • Bid: Solve is hosting our inaugural online auction, Bid for Hope, raising much-needed funds for continued research and advocacy. This is your chance to donate to Solve in exchange for some wonderful items, including VIP tickets to the U.S. Open and a meet and greet with Olympic Gold Medalist Pam Shriver, three nights at luxurious Lake Placid, NY condo, seven nights in Mexico, and more! Please share our auction link with your friends and family and across your social networks. The auction ends Monday, May 13 at 6 pm PT.
