We Respect Your Privacy
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative respects your privacy. This notice explains our donor information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. This notice is available on our homepage and every page throughout the site for your convenience.
Information We Collect and How We Use It
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative gathers two types of information:
- Personal, or “individually identifiable,” information you voluntarily provide to us; and
- Standard web server/traffic information commonly referred to as “aggregate information,” regarding overall Web traffic patterns.
Individually Identifiable Information
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative is the sole owner of and the only organization that uses the information collected on this site. We do not sell, share, or rent this information to others under any circumstances.
Information on individual site visitors is requested for purposes such as donation processing, future direct mailings and information requests. The information we request includes name, street address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, and e-mail address.
In the case of contributions, we may request credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date, CCV number) and will process your order via a secure server. All online payments are processed through PayPal and credit card information is not retained by the Solve ME/CFS Initiative.
In the case of memorial or honor contributions, we will also request the name and complete mailing address of your designated recipient for the purposes of acknowledgment only.
Collection of Personal Information from Users
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative may collect or track: (a) the email addresses of users that communicate with Solve ME/CFS Initiative via email; (c) information knowingly provided by the user in online forms, registration or membership forms, surveys, email, and other online avenues (including, without limitation, demographic and personal profile data); (c) aggregate and user-specific information regarding which pages a user accesses; (d) the home server domain names, date and time of your visit, type of computer, the originating IP address, files downloaded, search engine used, operating system, and type of Web browser of users of the Sites; and (e) for users who opt-in to the Geolocation service, the location of users of the Sites.
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative may place Internet “cookies” on your hard drive. Internet cookies are small amounts of data that contain a unique identifier that many websites frequently send to your web browser to be stored on your computer’s hard drive in order to save data about you, such as your name, password, user-name, screen preferences, and the pages of a website you have viewed. When you revisit the site, Solve ME/CFS Initiative may recognize you by your Internet cookies and customize your experience accordingly.
Donation Refunds
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative is grateful for the partnership of donors who empower us to fight on behalf of millions of suffering ME/CFS patients. If you believe your card had been charged by us in error, or you have changed your mind about making a donation to us for any reason, you may contact us to request a refund.
Requests for a refund will be honored if made within 30 days of the date of the donation to SolveCFS@SolveCFS.org or (714) 364.0016. If you are requesting a refund on a recurring donation, we will only be able to refund the last month’s payment.
Refunds are returned using the original method of payment within 45 days of the date of the request. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card. Alternatively, overpayments or errors may be refunded by check to the donors address on file with this nonprofit organization. If you did not make your donation via this website, please contact us at (704) 364-0016 to request your refund.
Credit Card Numbers
When our registration or order form asks you to enter your credit card number, that information is encrypted and is protected with encryption software. The Solve ME/CFS Initiative does not disclose your credit card account information to any other company.
Donors Information
The Solve ME/CFS Initiative will not share or sell a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.
Opt-Out
Our online form has an “opt-out” mechanism for users who wish to donate or request information, but do not wish to receive addition information or material from the Solve ME/CFS Initiative. At any time, you can also make an opt-out request, amend or correct your personal information maintained by the Solve ME/CFS Initiative by calling us at 704-364-0016.
Changing your Information
If at any time you wish to make changes to the personal information previously provided, we will take steps to verify your identity before making any corrections. You will be asked specific reference questions including full name, address, phone numbers and email address, if applicable.
Aggregate Information
In addition to information provided by our visitors, we track site visits using normal Internet tracking tools to help manage our system and better serve our community. This information is used for reporting purposes only and includes information such as: total number of visits, most visited sections, peak traffic times, browser versions, search terms used and average duration of visit.
