Solve Vice President of Advocacy and Engagement Emily Taylor is co-author of “What Long Covid Investigators Can Learn From Four Decades of ME/CFS Research,” which was recently published in The American Journal of Medicine. The writers assert that research on ME/CFS can improve our understanding of Long Covid pathophysiology, early diagnosis, prognosis, and the discovery of effective treatments. Based on learnings from the study of 51 participants (17 long COVID patients, 17 ME/CFS patients, and 17 healthy age-matched controls), the authors offer guidelines for establishing a case definition for Long Covid, including symptom specification, threshold development, subtypes, and exclusionary conditions.
