Welcoming Jessica Maya, PhD, Solve M.E.’s New Vice President of Scientific Programs

Solve M.E. is proud to welcome Dr. Jessica Maya as our new Vice President of Scientific Programs, a role central to how we advance discovery, collaboration, and impact across the ME/CFS and Long Covid research landscape.

Jessica joins Solve M.E. at a time of growing scientific momentum and urgent unmet need. As VP, she will shape our research strategy, oversee the Ramsay Research Grant Program and ME/CFS Catalyst Awards, and expand our network of academic, nonprofit, government, and industry partners.

Her leadership will help ensure that high-potential science does not stall, and that researchers have the support needed to move bold ideas forward.

“Jessica’s appointment strengthens every part of our mission, from scientific rigor to strategic collaboration,” said Solve M.E. President and CEO Emily Taylor.  “Her leadership will help Solve M.E. continue to drive progress where it’s needed most.”

Jessica joins Solve M.E. with a background in immunology, genetics, and infection-associated chronic illness research. Most recently, she served in the Chronic Viral Diseases Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she led multi-omics investigations integrating proteomic, genomic, and clinical data to define biological drivers of ME/CFS and related post-infectious conditions.

She earned her Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics and Development in the laboratory of Dr. Maureen Hanson at Cornell University, where her doctoral research focused on immune dysregulation and cellular metabolism in ME/CFS and helped characterize mechanisms of T cell exhaustion and chronic immune activation. Her work integrates large-scale proteomics, genome-wide association studies, and bioinformatics to identify genetic susceptibility, immune pathway alterations, and biomarker-defined patient subgroups, and has involved collaboration across federal agencies, academic institutions, and international research groups.

Jessica told us, “I’m excited to continue working in the ME/CFS field alongside a community that has shown extraordinary persistence and dedication to advancing the science. I look forward to supporting efforts that deepen scientific understanding of ME/CFS and help translate discovery into tangible advances for people living with ME/CFS and the broader community.”

We’re thrilled to welcome Jessica to Solve M.E. and look forward to the impact her leadership will bring.

Your gift is DOUBLED through June 30!
