Honoring the Vital Role of Caregivers in the ME/CFS and Long Covid Community

November is National Family Caregivers Month. It is a time to recognize and honor the millions of family caregivers who provide critical, ongoing support to loved ones facing chronic illness.

Within the ME/CFS and Long Covid communities, caregiving often involves high levels of emotional, physical, and logistical demands. Whether you’re helping with medical appointments, managing complex care routines, or simply being present day after day, your work matters – and you are not alone.

According to the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC), more than 63 million Americans are currently serving as family caregivers. Nearly half of them report being in high-intensity caregiving situations, underscoring the need for connection, resources, and shared understanding.

This month, Solve, Bateman Horne Center, #MEAction, and the Open Medicine Foundation are coming together to offer support, recognition, and practical tools for caregivers navigating the unique challenges of complex chronic illness.

In honor of National Family Caregivers Month, Solve is proud to announce “Protecting the Ones You Love: Legal & Insurance Tools for ME/CFS Caregivers,” a free educational webinar designed to support caregivers with both advocacy-focused guidance and practical legal and insurance tools.

Hosted by Solve M.E. Director of Advocacy Monique Wike, Andrew Kantor, Esq. (Senior Partner at Kantor & Kantor, LLP),  will walk caregivers through essential legal and insurance strategies to support a loved one living with ME/CFS.

Andrew will break down long-term disability (LTD) insurance, long-term care (LTC) planning, medical and legal documentation tips, and practical steps families can take to secure benefits and long-term stability.

Whether you’re just beginning this journey or planning ahead, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to advocate effectively, protect your loved one’s financial security, and support their care with clarity and strength.

Caregivers have so many responsibilities. Let us help simplify the path for you!
