Dr. Anthony Komaroff, a leading ME/CFS expert and Solve M.E. Research Advisory Council member recently published a new review in Frontiers titled ME/CFS and Long COVID share similar symptoms and biological abnormalities: road map to the literature. The piece, co-authored with Dr. Ian Lipkin, provides a roadmap for investigators new to the study of these illnesses.
Drs. Komaroff and Lipkin review over 500 peer-reviewed references that describe how similar ME/CFS and Long Covid are, “both in their symptoms and in their underlying biological abnormalities.” They also outline gaps in our understanding of abnormalities that have been found in people with ME/CFS but not yet looked for in Long Covid.
The authors shared that they believe this information could encourage and focus research on both ME/CFS and Long Covid.
