Remembering Dr. Ron Tompkins

We were deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Dr. Ron Tompkins, MD, ScD, chief medical officer at Open Medicine Foundation (OMF).Tompkins is remembered as a gifted scientist and doctor, a compassionate thought leader, and a dedicated advocate for the patient community.Solve M.E. President and CEO Oved Amitay noted, “Dr. Tompkins’ dedication to people with ME/CFS was unwavering. He never accepted the biases within the medical field that harm people with ME/CFS and fought to change them. The research network that he helped build will be part of his enduring legacy. Dr. Tompkins will be sorely missed.”OMF CEO Linda Tannenbaum announced this week that to honor his memory, the organization has renamed the OMF-funded Harvard ME/CFS Collaboration to The Ronald G.
