In our 2026 State of the ME/CFS Union Address, Solve M.E. leadership shared a vision for accelerating research, strengthening the infrastructure behind scientific progress, and building a more powerful advocacy community.
After two years spent defending critical federal research programs and protecting the scientific infrastructure that makes progress possible, Solve M.E. is looking ahead with renewed determination.
During our 2026 Community Address, President and CEO Emily Taylor, Director of Advocacy Monique, and VP of Scientific Programs Jessica Maya, PhD, outlined the organization’s priorities and invited the ME/CFS community to help shape what comes next.
The message was clear: We’ve held the line. Now it’s time to build.
Three priorities, one shared goal
Our strategy focuses on three interconnected priorities:
- Fund the science. Advances in understanding ME/CFS, including the identification of patient subtypes and the development of more targeted clinical trials, offer new opportunities to accelerate treatment research. Through our Ramsay Research Grants and Catalyst Awards, Solve is investing in promising science and the researchers moving it forward.
- Connect research to real-world treatments. Scientific discoveries need strong infrastructure to reach patients. We’re working to protect and rebuild the federal programs, research networks, and funding mechanisms essential to turning discoveries into effective therapies.
- Advocate for lasting change. Our community has already helped protect critical research programs and influence federal policy. Now we’re preparing for the next phase, including “The Long Game,” a free advocacy training program designed to help community members build relationships with decision-makers and advocate effectively throughout the year.
A place for everyone in this effort
Whether you’re living with ME/CFS or Long COVID, supporting a loved one, conducting research, or advocating for better care, there is a role for you.
As Emily reminded attendees, meaningful change doesn’t happen through one heroic action. It happens when a community works together, one step at a time.
Our vision remains a world where no one has to suffer from ME/CFS. And while important challenges remain, we believe the scientific progress and collective determination of this community give us real reasons to keep moving forward.
