The purpose of our Advocacy Week outreach this year was to secure support from State Medical Boards and State Health Leadership for our community push to get questions about ME/CFS on national medical exams.
Following up on those efforts, Solve Director of Advocacy and Engagement Monique Wike had a very collaborative meeting with the Executive Director of the Montana Board of Medical Examiners, alongside Bateman Horne, #MEAction, and a local constituent.
Highlights:
- We’ve been invited to speak at the board’s July 24 meeting, with a potential path to a longer 20-minute presentation down the line.
- Montana’s new telehealth registration process (HB 414) is already improving out-of-state specialty care access by allowing physicians from outside of Montana to treat patients within Montana for up to 21 calendar days per year without requiring Montana licensure. We’ll be tracking efforts to expand this access further.
- The board indicated potential openness to signing a letter supporting the inclusion of ME/CFS in medical exam and training content.
