Solve ME/CFS Initiative President Carol Head has been invited to join the Patient Advocacy Board of UCLA’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Board members are selected based on their role in clinical research as a health advocate and/or their status as a patient or family member with an acute or chronic disease.
As a board member, Head will offer her thoughts on how to ensure that the impact of the Institute’s scientific work to improve health reaches the patients and family members who may benefit the most. Head and her fellow Patient Advocacy Board members will provide feedback on the Institute’s efforts to improve the engagement of patients and family members who may participate in future research topics, such as: study design, study informed consent process, study recruitment approaches, data analysis and data safety monitoring, data privacy and security and ethics.
Members of the Board will be named in the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s renewal application to the National Institutes of Health.
