CFSAC provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Assistant Secretary for Health on issues related to myalgic encephalomyelitis and chronic fatigue syndrome. These issues can include factors affecting access and care for persons with ME/CFS; the science and definition of ME/CFS; and broader public health, clinical, research and educational issues related to ME/CFS. Administrative and management support for CFSAC is provided by the HHS Office on Women’s Health in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH).
SMCI will continue to use its position on CFSAC to fight for greater visibility of and increased funding for ME/CFS at the federal level.
